Job Title: Systems Analyst

Location: Co. Mayo; Co. Galway, Dublin, as convenient to the candidate.

Contract / Permanent: FTC 12 Months, With further extension

Start date: 1st October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter

 

Role:

 

This is a requirement for a Systems Analyst in order to support the CLIENT strategic proposition of “Innovation in everything we do”, the CLIENT Technology Platforms and Solutions (TPS) Team provide services that are enablers and a strategic partner to the business in supporting their technology needs.

 

The CLIENT TPS Technical Solution Delivery Team are responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance and support of a number of business-critical systems that are used to provide services to both internal and external customers.

 

The team is also responsible for the Solution Architecture discipline, including the definition and refinement of the Target Technical Architecture for the organisation, and assuring that any proposed solutions adhere as closely as possible to the Standards and Principles that underpin it.

 

A requirement now exists for a Systems Analyst on a full-time basis, a candidate that is knowledgeable and experienced about all things related to technology solutions and ensuring that these solutions deliver fully on business requirements. A professional who will go above and beyond the call of duty to support the CLIENT’s technology needs.

 

Experience Level Required:

 

·         It is a mandatory requirement that the Resource proposed for this role has not less than 5 years relevant experience. Any other experience levels less than this will not be accepted.

·         Full Driving License required Occasional travel may be required (own car required) and standard Civil Service T &S rates will apply.

·         It is a mandatory requirement that the Resource proposed hold the following qualifications or equivalents: At a minimum, hold Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications with computing/computational modules taken in the final year.

The Systems Analyst will work in the Technology, Platforms and Solutions directorate in the Client and will play a key role in understanding business requirements and translating them into technical specifications, playing a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions.

 

The Systems Analyst must demonstrate a proven ability in understanding and analysing the existing Client systems and business processes. They must work with stakeholders to understand business requirements, and analyse user needs to design and improve systems. They will be responsible for documenting technical requirements, creating functional specifications, and ensuring that the developed systems meet the defined requirements.

Responsibilities:

a)        Be involved in all aspects of the design of IT solutions.

b)       Gain a good understanding of the business operations and systems.

c)        Meet with project stakeholders to gather and translate business and technical requirements into documentation that can be understood by all stakeholders.

d)       Create artefacts to support project delivery, including User Stories, documentation, diagrams, models etc.

e)        Review of third-party artefacts, providing appropriate feedback to the Solution Architect or other parties.

f)        Provide support to the Development and QA teams.

g)       Provide support to the Solution Architect in developing and documenting the Technical Architecture.

h)       Work with the Solution Architect to determine technical solutions and ensure that they meet business requirements.

i)         Provide input to project and resource planning, budgeting, and implementation.

Requirements

Key Experience/Competencies/Skillsets:

Experience

·         Experience gathering user requirements and translating into User Stories, including details of the quality criteria used when creating User Stories.

·         Experience developing project artefacts, including Data Dictionaries, API Guides, Release Notes etc.

·         Experience documenting best practices and procedure in relation to the Systems Analyst role.

·         Experience providing support to Solution Architect / Technical Architect in defining and documenting the Technical Architecture for solutions being delivered.

·         Experience reviewing third-party artefacts, providing appropriate feedback to the Solution Architect / Technical Architect or other parties.

·         Experience providing support to Development and QA teams during the development and testing of solutions.

·         Knowledge of databases including Relational Data Design, using technologies such as MySQL, MariaDB, MS SQL.

·         Knowledge of widely used text formats, such as JSON and XML.

·         Strong communication skills, in both technical and non-technical environments.

·         Ability to quickly research and learn new technologies, tools, and techniques.
