Job Description

Your role:

  • Establishing closer relationships with internal business audiences and employees to support and scale sustainable practices, leadership and commercial distinctiveness, through the development of dedicated (customer facing) materials (guidelines, toolkits, customer case studies, tender support materials) in particular in relation to global industry events.

  • Developing and executing captivating ESG stories, communications and advocacy campaigns, towards global business-, government- and policy making audiences, leveraging a range of (digital) communications formats, tools and partnerships, activated across multiple touchpoints (owned, earned, paid).

  • Developing high-quality ESG content (planned and ad hoc) for Philips spokespersons, including (but not limited to) Philips’ global head of Sustainability (i.e. presentations, articles, speaker briefings, social media posts).

  • Developing and rolling out an integrated global communications program for Philips 2025-2030 ESG commitments, including a powerful ESG/ sustainability story-telling strategy, enabling Philips employees and business leaders to comfortably speak about ESG in general as well as Philips’ focus on driving sustainable and equitable healthcare.


Your responsibilities:

  • Go-to person for ESG communications and linking pin between Philips’ sustainability team and Brand & Comms network, within and outside the company.

  • Development of distinctive ESG campaigns and communications materials in line with internal business, and global external priorities, supporting Philips vision to deliver better care for more people.

  • Drive ROI in everything you do, from supporting speaking opportunities that draw attention and in the design of integrated, measurable corporate ESG focused activities and campaigns.

  • Drive new ways of working across the communications value chain from audience definition and objective setting to content creation, activation, and project evaluation.

Your team:

You will be part of Philips’ global Comms & Brand team and the global External Relations team. You will report to the Head of ESG and Public Affairs Communications, who oversees Philips global ESG communications, Public Affairs communications and communications for the Philips Foundation. The team also supports Government Affairs advocacy campaigns, creating reputational goodwill and contributing to a favorable license to operate for a listed, global health technology leader.

Philips’ Global External Relations team is responsible for managing Philips’ media relations, proactively managing both positive news and thought leadership, and issues/crisis topics.

You’re the right fit if:

  • You are a team player who thrives in multi-stakeholder, multi-discipline environments, who is eager to learn and embrace new channels, partnerships and content formats as we transform our communications ecosystem.

  • You have at least 7 years of experience in communications in a comparable role in an agency or international corporate environment, preferably in the healthcare/med tech/ tech industry.

  • You are a strong communicator and content creator, able to develop and implement strategic communications programs that align with business goals, as well as leading their implementation at a high level of quality.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills. Ability to juggle multiple, complex projects simultaneously and thrive under pressure.

  • You have experience and good general understanding of ESG, sustainability reporting standards and Human Rights. Interest and experience in Public Affairs and/or employee communications is a plus.

  • You speak near native English, have a broad global perspective and demonstrated commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable practices.

  • Personal characteristics: Proactive, entrepreneurial, business-savvy, flexible, hands-on, diplomatic and culturally sensitive.
