Job title: PHP developer

Salary: £45k - £55k

Location: remote, occasionally travel to the office in Nottingham.

Vargo is recruiting a PHP Developer for a fast-growing fintech business. This opportunity is ideal for junior PHP developers looking to advance their careers with training support.

You'll develop bespoke in-house software within a dynamic and ambitious team. You'll work closely with development and broader business functions, including Project Managers, Software Testers, and Business Analysts. The role requires initiative and the ability to work to set specifications. Experience with microservices application development is a plus but not required.

Requirements

• Strong experience in PHP and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) is essential.


• Commercial experience with MVC frameworks, particularly CodeIgniter.


• Proficient in working with relational databases, especially MySQL.


• Experience in developing monolithic applications.


• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3/Bootstrap, and JavaScript/jQuery.


• Experience with Source Control systems like Git or Bitbucket.


• Familiarity with JSON and SOAP.


• Experience with unit testing (training can be provided if needed).


• Basic working knowledge of API design


• Ability to understand and work with existing source code
